Formenterra and Ibiza are a must see if you like beach, warm waters, and delicious seafood!
Getting There:
It is very easy to fly into Ibiza (IBZ) and if you are up for sailing the islands, taking a taxi to the marina/beach to pick up your sailboat (which needs to be set up in advance, particularly during high season).
Rest Your Body:
We loved our 30 foot sailboat that we rented from Marco and his company, Italnautica. For four days, we paid 2600 Euro total for 3 people, so about 800 Euro per person. They include sheets and we asked for them to include towels because our bags were so small. You have to buy food and alcohol separately. The skipper will stop for gas and groceries.
The skipper, Pablo, picked us up in Cala Salinas (the Salinas beach) which is only a 7-10 minute cab ride from the airport. We chose our route when we arrived and sailed to Formenterra on the first day. The beaches were lovely. My favorite beach between the islands was Platja de ses Illetes. The water was crystal clear and turquoise and you could walk forever. There were even local mud baths that were an easy walk. Beware of naked mud bathers!
Culinary Delights:
We took the opportunity to have our first meal while in the harbor (while getting gas and groceries) at the Formenterra Bakery, which was quite delicious.
We also went to dinner near Platja de ses Illetes at a restaurant that offered a complimentary dingy up to the restaurant. I had some amazing lobster pasta but the caprese left a lot to be desired with unripe tomatoes. Stick with seafood here.

The second beach we visited was Platja de Cala Saona. This was also a very lovely beach (turquoise water with great snorkeling) but much smaller and so it was quite packed. There's a cute beach bar at the top of the hill that only takes currency and is great for sunset but that closes at 10pm. There is also the hotel Cala Saona that is beautiful and I would highly recommend. The food was quite good, the hotel was lovely and had great service. I think one or two nights here would be sufficient though just because the beach gets so packed.
Ibiza
Culinary Delights:
We anchored at Sa Caleta harbor and dined at the BlueMarlin Beach Club. It was delicious. I still dream of the feta and watermelon salad. If you like electronic music, this place was highly entertaining and fun.
Adventure:
We also anchored for some snorkeling near the Torre de ses Portes. It's quite lovely here.
