Packing Advice

My best advice for packing is LESS IS MORE! As I travel more and more, I pack less and less. I will admit that I am a bit of a minimalist to begin, but I guarantee that packing can make a major difference in your travel experience.

CARRY-ON GOALS

It is always my goal to only bring a carry-on when traveling- whether it be for a weekend trip or a month long trip to Europe. I know that sounds wild, but it is completely possible!  Weather is certainly a key factor as well as plans for activities.  Ski  and golf trips require larger luggage, for example because the equipment is so large.

Another important factor to consider is what airline you're flying. Delta Airlines is wonderful about allowing a slightly larger carry-on onboard, whereas American Airlines are real sticklers about what carry-on baggage they will allow on the airplane.  I have used the same carry-on for years and have taken it on dozens of Delta flights, Southwest flights, and the only time it has ever been intercepted is when boarding American Airlines flights. The frustrating part is that it does fit into their cubby at the desk but because I have to push it in, they have intercepted it to be tagged.

WHY IT MATTERS

Checking bags is important for a few major reasons:

1. Your bag cannot get lost if it is in your possession!  THIS IS EVERYTHING!!!  This resonates if you have ever had a bag go missing...trust me, is is the worst and once it happens, you will do nearly anything to avoid it from happening again.

2. You can save quite a bit of time exiting the airport if you don't have to wait at the baggage carousel
