Enchanting Salzburg

Salzburg is a wonderfully friendly city. It's filled with history and culture but also has all contemporary facilities and technology you might want. Wifi was readily available in our hotel and occasionally a restaurant or cafe. Taxi drivers can speak English.

Rest Your Body:

Hotel Bristol is a perfectly located and very fairly priced hotel (200 euro per night). They offer an excellent breakfast (better than all do the other fruit, pasty and toast breakfasts we had in Europe)- for example you can order eggs to your liking or an omelette. The hotel offers rooms that overlook the Hohensalzburg Castle.

Culinary Delights:

The modern art museum has a restaurant overlooking the old town called M32. It's a must see in Salzburg. It not only has a sensational view, but delicious food and beverage. It's part of the modern art museum so always has some interesting art installation in the dining room as well. The waiters all speak multiple languages so do not fear not being able to communicate. The salmon at m32 is unreal (wild caught in the Alps). While in Austria, you must also try Wiener schnitzel (a breaded veal cutlet).

Adventure:

Salzburg offers segway tours which I highly recommend while there. Take a Salzburg Segway Tour early in your trip to explore a large area and see small streets and areas you would like to explore on foot.

You must visit the Hohensalzburg Castle, which sits atop the Festungsberg hill. Not only is it an incredible museum, but it has some of the most sensational views of Salzburg and the surrounding countryside.

Hidden Gems and Not to Be Missed: M32, Hohensalzburg Castle, Hotel Bristol (if you can get a view of the castle), the Salzburg Segway Tour
