El Nido is by far my favorite spot in the Philippines! It reminds me a lot of southern Thailand's geography.

Getting There:

We flew direct from Los Angeles (LAX) to Manila and hopped on a puddle jumper on Swift Air down to the island. We landed and were picked up immediately by El Nido Resorts and escorted to a boat that took us directly to the island.

Miniloc Resort

Rest Your Body: Our resort was the only hotel on the island, which made it feel like you were on your own private island. We stayed at El Nido Miniloc but Pangalusian was incredibly close and had fantastic reviews from friends who stayed there. Both resorts were only about a 45 minute boat ride after you land on Palawan, where some of the El Nido resorts are a bit further from the airport.

Upon arrival, the service and attention to detail was extraordinary. We felt so safe and taken care of. The resort is all inclusive so you never have to carry money or credit cards around! The rooms at the resort were spacious and very clean.

Alternative accommodations: Pangalusian El Nido resort (same parent company)

Although we didnt make it down to Puerto Princessa, we heard its lovely. There is also the longest underwater river there that is a must see.

Culinary Delights:

The all inclusive buffet was delicious and there were always a wide variety of choices.

Adventure: The all inclusive activities were the highly of the trip. We took the island hopping tour which was great- make sure to stop by Snake Island! The best stop is the Entalula beach with nothing on it but a bar from the hotel. We spent a 1/2 day there snorkeling and enjoying the perfect weather. Scuba diving is available and I'm sure would be lovely here!

We also went on the Big and Little Lagoon tours, which were picturesque! Do not miss the opportunity to see these gorgeous lagoons and take a quick dip in the warm water.

Kayaks are available for daily use, a basketball net, and skorkeling gear (which you have to check out). Last but not least, the resort also offers a sunset boat ride, which is a nice way to end the day.

Travel Advice: pack lightly! You'll be in bathing suits all day and it's quite warm at night so sundresses are perfect. Bring a lot of sunscreen and an underwater camera! Also, make sure to get a massage here- they are well trained, professional and inexpensive (around $30 USD for 60 minutes)

Hidden Gems and Not to Be Missed: El Nido Resort and all of the water activties!
